  • What is the difference between Pilates and Yoga?
Pilates is a movement practice that connects the body, mind, and spirit through movement. Pilates exercises the entire body in a balanced fashion to restore physical and mental vitality, rather than spot training individual muscles. Pilates highlights breath, using the mind to control the body, precise movements, and muscle engagement, enhancing muscle tone and stability. Yoga is an integrated health management system using breath, movement and meditation to unite mind, body and spirit. It also incorporates elements of philosophy, science and an ethical way of living. Yoga poses (known as “asanas”) are static poses, typically held for a period of time to build flexibility and strength. Pilates, on the other hand, focuses on alignment and control of various parts of the body while moving fluidly and mindfully.
